Biography
I obtained my BSc in Biology (Biotechnology) in 1998 and later my PhD (2005) both from the University of Ottawa, where my research focused on how mobile DNA elements influence genome evolution. Following this, I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, studying the molecular mechanisms that control muscle stem cell function and myogenic differentiation.
In 2014, I joined McGill University’s Department of Human Genetics as an Assistant Professor and established a research program at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research. After nearly a decade at McGill University, I returned to the University of Ottawa in 2023 as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology & Immunology. My lab focuses on regenerative medicine and the molecular regulation of skeletal muscle regeneration in development and disease, with the goal of understanding and developing strategies to combat muscle degeneration in aging, and muscle-wasting diseases.
